Abstract:
In 2005, Pacific Watershed Associates (PWA) received a grant from the California Departmetn of Fish and Game (CDFG) to conduct an assessment of erosion and sediment delivery to streams along approximately 130 mi of road in the Chorro Creek and Stenner Creek watersheds, near San Luis Obispo, California. Under this contract, PWA developed estimates of future erosion risk; and developed detailed, site specific prescriptions, prioritized treatment plans, and cost estimates for upland road erosion control treatments to prevent and control sediment impacts to the streams supporting threatened southern steelhead. This report, summarizes the results of an assessment completed for 121 mi of roads and 5.36 mi of trails located on properties managed by 5 separate landowners. These property managers include Cal Poly State University (Cal Poly), California Army National Guard Camp San Luis Obispo (Camp SLO), Los Padres National Forest, San Luis Obispo County Parks, and the City of San Luis Obispo.
